About Me

Rafting down the Merced River in Yosemite Valley

Welcome to Noteworthy Guide-your semi-reliable source for outdoor inspiration and questionable decision making.

I’m Rodger Bradford, and I’ve been in a committed relationship with the outdoors since childhood. It started innocently enough—camping trips, bike rides, a few scraped knees. But things escalated. Fast-forward a few decades, and I’ve dabbled in rock climbing, snowboarded down mountains that scared me halfway back up, and pedaled across long distances with nothing but a bike, a map, and an overinflated sense of adventure.

I love mountain biking.
But I also love riding around the city

These days, I’m happiest kayaking quiet lakes, chasing mushrooms through damp forests, or grinding up trails on my mountain bike. I’ve also worked in the outdoor and bike industries for most of my adult life. Trust me—making solid gear takes more grit, brains, and coffee than most people imagine. It’s taught me a deep respect for the gear that keeps us dry, safe, and only slightly lost.

When I am indoors, I dream of the outdoors.
I am not a cowboy but sometimes I pretend to be.

What keeps me coming back to nature is the unpredictability—the glorious, messy, sometimes muddy surprise of it all. One minute you’re soaking in a view that makes your soul sing, the next you’re knee-deep in “Type II Fun”—that delightful category of adventure that feels like a bad idea in the moment, but becomes legendary in the retelling.

This site is where I share some tips, tales, and hard-earned lessons to help you stack the odds in favor of a “Type I” outing—fun in real time, not just in hindsight.

The outdoors resets me. Grounds me. Reminds me to breathe. I hope it does the same for you. So grab your boots, your paddle, your bicycle, or your mushroom basket—let’s go find some adventure.

I love finding mushrooms! This was a huge cluster of honey mushrooms in Yosemite Valley.
